What you mean SOLD out?!?

Would you believe it??
Tickets for the Singapore Drift were SOLD OUT!
I was brutally disappointed when we go to the grounds
only to see a sign in the distance saying 'Tickets sold out'
and we had to make a U-turn back out of that all exclusive pass Entrance,
finding solace from planes taking off and that the F1 was later that evening!
Funny thing is a friend said it really wasn't as good as I thought it would be
and she and her friends left after 1 hour???? EH??? I don't register this?
Answers someone???

Boy were we bummed. There can only be a few reasons to such a sell out:
1)It was all planned not to make as many tickets to make it Exclusive!
2)They didn't expect it to have such a huge turnout and be so successful!
3)They simply didn't print enough tickets!

What we can deduce though, is that the guy who sunk his money into this,
made a FORTUNE!!!!
And next year, judging from this competition and show-case
it will be bigger and Better.
I'm still pouting though!
Such good weather too! I guess I should have bought at Sistec outlets
but who would think it would be so popular.
I saw A LOT of nice cars plus a lot of Malaysians who drove up
for no reason left like broken branches at the side roads....

Well at least I can ramble on about the F1!!!
DUDE I was up n ARMS and left mouth open after Alonso's car ran itself in and caught Fire!
He was 2nd on the grid and I had faith in him to be in Pole Position
or at least top 5 since Spain was his home ground and
the crowds were looking down upon him like a the hero he is!

Well I then went to support my back up man, Lewis Hamilton ,who didn't falter at 3rd position.
What ever it is, my prediction (sadly) is that Overall winners are
1)Kimi Raikkonen
2)Felipe Massa
3) Lewis Hamilton
Ferarri are looking unstoppable with BMW behind them now!
This race in Barcelona was by FAR one of the MOST exciting
with 9 drivers out of 22 crashing out the race for various reasons.
I didn't realise but there was a live results feed, that managed
to keep me updated on what was going on to who and how!
I'll post pictures tomorrow as I got silly excited about it even though
SOMEONE thought I was weird for taking pictures of it on the computer screen!
Next Race in 2 weeks Sunday in TURKEY.

A write-up tomorrow about the short summary of Sunday's race.
My day wasn't a waste after all!

Do you think Religion is a Way of living, to improve one's mental being?

So this poll, more people felt that YES religion is a way of living , for example to improve one's mental being, but then some said no!!!!

Just wondering why some people thought no???
Well I guess it is mainly being that people don't see it as just a way of living
but more of praise and thanks to their Gods?
Hmmm I guess i can try segregate this down now and do another poll-

It's just interesting to know,
because different people have different reasons behind taking religion into their lives whether they were born into it or became something or another!

Weekend Dingalings!

Was an fruitful weekend being a tourist somewhat but not forgetting
Zouk's 17th Anniversary Bash on Saturday-
with its Kookie get ups and weird t-shirt designs!!!

i wore my Zouk-tshirt as a Skirt!!! Wasn't the most flattering but Was all for fun!!! Tucked inthe sleeves and they looked like pockets. Was a jovial, party mood, with everyone slowly having a permanent smile etched on their faces as the free-flow champagne was passed around!!!Ha ha! Lot's of balloons, weird costumes, drag queens and CAKES!!!!

I will get more pictures up once I can find them but here is a few!!!!
Speaking about being a tourist I managed to sneak in the
Songs of the Sea & Underwater World
We all felt like 10 year old kids OOOoo and Ahhhing to the fish. Best part for me was feeding the sting rays!!!! They sucked on your fingers trying to get the sliced fish from in between your fingers!!! This was actually my first time in underwater word after all the years living here!

Went for a swim down at KM8 which was the busiest I've ever seen it, but the water was questionable and the smell! So we left the beach and back to base!

Weather has been great this last week so swimming ad tanning is a definite yes to all!!! I find it weird how peopel wnat to be Chicken skin white! Being white is all thats promoted on TV etc. The exact opposite fro overseas! But well one man's meat is another's' poison!

This is CBS's program on her weight and life-it is completely Shocking !!!The embed feature has been disabled so click on this link below!

She was also involved in a anti-anorexia advertisement which shows her pictured naked as you can see above. Unbelievable that she is still alive!!! Barely!

Feeling Down

A silly joke forwarded to my email:)

Feeling down???
Well Then, Consider This . .
In a hospital's Intensive Care Unit, patients always died
in the same bed, on Sunday morning, at about 11:00 am,
regardless of their medical condition.

This puzzled the doctors and some even thought it had
something to do with the supernatural. No one could solve
the mystery as to why the deaths occurred around 11:00 am
Sunday, so a worldwide team of experts was assembled to
investigate the cause of the incidents.

The next Sunday morning, a few minutes before 11:00 am.,
all of the doctors and nurses nervously waited outside
the ward to see for themselves what the terrible phenomenon
was all about. Some were holding wooden crosses, prayer
books, and other holy objects to ward off the evil spirits.

Just when the clock struck 11:00 , Pookie Johnson, the part- time Sunday sweeper , entered the ward and unplugged the life
support system so he could use the vacuum cleaner.

Religion: A way of living???

Thanks guys for answering My poll on the sidebar about whether I looked better dark-haired or light-haired. Majority answering that I looked better with dark-hair. I believe so too and thus last week I dyed it back!!!! I beg to differ on blondes having all the fun!

Anyway my new poll was inspired by catching a program on cable
about the Prophet Mohamed
(did I spell that right? tell me if I haven't).

It talked about his life as an orphan growing up in the divided country he came from and how he reunited his people and other countries around him even 100 years after his death.
He called upon people not to see him as Another Jesus who did miracles
because he did no such thing but
rather about his teachings of how life should be and how we should treat people etc.

In the program he reunited and more or less created Islam
by getting rid of the many other Idols that people prayed to-
it spurred me to think on whether Religion is a way of living
in the sense of like when you read a book for instance on how to have peace with yourself
or anger management i.e. books on self-improvement.

Is religion a source of focus that people build their lives around.
Is the Bible or Quran really a book of morales-
a Set of rules for us to follow in case we forget what is right or wrong?

OR is it really about worshipping or giving thanks to a greater being or power for what we have
and about giving us strength and hope etc... in times of uncertainty FOR INSTANCE.

Here's one last Question i'll Poll next week!
Would there be no Religion if we had all the scientific answers!
(the end of science basically)
Think about it!
Not a controversial subject, more of thought as I , Myself am not that religious,
More curious and respectful of others who are highly religious!
Depending on what religion means to them!

11thApril Cedar Girl's Track and Field Meet

Last Thursday night i got a text from my old Track coach (& Maths-poor guy)-Mr.Tay-
about not forgetting about Friday mornings Track and Field Meet.
Ofcourse about 2 month before I had agreed to come. It COMPLETELY slipped my mind
and i felt bad if i hadn't attended.
So i woke at 6am amidst the downpour and headed to Bishan stadium!

I had a good meet up with certain other teachers
and it was then that it dawned on me that it had been almost 10YEARS!
Yikes! Some looked more shocked then others to see me- ha ha-I wonder why!!!
They probably had recurring nightmares that they thought
had stopped 5 years ago about me and my gang of classmates!

Times have changed and the track and field meet felt different for some reason
but the Alumni isn't very active and well I talked to my old teacher
to work something out and in the mean time-come June
I will teach a semester of dance (breaking and some hiphop) to the Dance club and even help them for an upcoming competition on coordinating it.
That will be alot of fun and I foresee head aches!!!
But I can't wait helping with my old memories-
Cedar Girls Secondary School!!!

Well will load some pictures and of the interval game I took part in with the teachers!

WhoopWhoop its De sound of De Police!

Sirens+Wind+Lightening & Thunder +Boats Rocking = Storm warning!!! Singapore has storm warnings? Well apparently so as I found out on Sentosa. A woman's voice is mysteriously heard like some dictator styled invisible island megaphone after sirens wailing for a couple of minutes. Only thing is they need to turn the volume up cause she sounds like some nurse over the hospital intercom "paging for Dr. XYZ to report to the radiology please."

I gotta say though the rain storms are alot more dramatic down south here! Trees thrashing about, boats rocking, water floats flying off balconies. Sounds all rather exciting doesn't it? Well thats as exciting as it gets in Singapore!

But I've always been one to sit and just watch. I love the cold wind, the overcast Grey skies with the blackness of the storm seeping the skies like ink dropped in water. One day I will definitely go to the states to do something extreme like tornado chasing.

I think it's all rather entrancing seeing and feeling the power of nature moving across the earth at hundreds of kilometres an hour. If you know of such tour packages, count me in!!!!

Claire-Louise Jedrek
PS:Useless info-You'd think that USA has the most number of tornadoes, actual fact its UK!!!!

I am determined to swim today- but I need the sun-
I absolutely abhor cold water-
I'm aching all over from Mondays filming for S***D***-
and the battle wounds that came along
from defending against a certified Looney Bin.

I managed to fit in dance class last night with my girlfriend, which was long over due.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself though it was fast high tempo music and moves!
Wish I could say that i slept well!!!
Well the day is looking great so far-
lets wait till I come back after i go for a meeting!!!
and the world will smile with you!!!!

Is it just Rice Hysteria ???

I know being 'Kiasu' was a good thing in a previous post, but it can be slightly over cooked in the case of this 'imminent' rice shortage that every one in the demographics of either old, middle-aged, probably Female and bored is running out to stock up on.

Is it just a case of mass hysteria stirred up by the press?

Will it be really necessary for Singaporeans to switch to Wheat products and reduce rice consumption as they had to in an apparent Vaguely similiar situation in the 70's?

Lets see how this commotion on countries that produce rice pans out with the reduction of existing export contracts and export quantities, as well as the non-renewal of contracts.

It's said the prices of rice will be inflated around the region-including Singapore ,
but then we hear from ministers that staple food products will be going up anyway.
A way to keep Singaporeans calm amidst the drama?
Let's wait and see if there is a cause for worry!
In the mean time, I'll start on my book,
'101 ways to cook a potato'.

Bahrain F1

Sitting here watching the live telecast of the F1 in Bahrain. My favourite Alonso (not so much for Renault) is in 10th position with 5 laps to go. He's been fairly consistent in those rankings and as for Lewis Hamilton-yikes-
He started off 3rd position on the grid, but if you've been watching he started off ultra slow,
while everyone from behind passed him by-What is going on?
He also managed to hit into the back end of Alonso?!??!?!
He's in 13th position with 3 laps to go!

Massa is up in 1st after his Sepang upset after spinning off into the gravel.
The commentator just made a comment
that he doesn't think Massa is champion material- ouch!
What we do know is he's hungry and he's the race winner!!!!

1st: Massa (Ferrari)

2nd: Raikkonen (Ferrari)

3rd: Kubica (BMW)

So after Australia, Malaysia and Bahrain- I look forward to SPAIN.
Of course its a countdown to Singapore's Night Races.
Exciting Times!

The Heathrow Saga continues

Yet AGAIN British Airways has a computer glitch with their baggage system
causing fresh drama in T5, with flights delayed.
An absolute PR nightmare with Big promises and Little delivery!
The messy start to T5's opening is said to cost 16 million pounds($48m)!

Other Heathrow drama outbreaks was Naomi's arrest at T5- No SURPRISE THERE!
British Drama seems to pale in comparison to American drama though.
When will Naomi get her 3 days in jail-where she'll spend 1 day ,
after which she'll have a breakdown and get out
AND then tell all about how it changed her life! Hahahaha.

RIP Charlton Heston

Charlton Heston (1924-2008)
This legendary actor may not be familiar to our generation
but if you grew up watching the old classic movies such as Ben Hur,
then perhaps his name might ring a bell of familiarity .
Sadly another great actor has died ,taken away by Alzheimer's disease
after battling with the disease for the last few years!
If you don't know who he is or have NEVER watched Ben Hur-
i suggest you run out to the Video store!!!
One of the greatest productions of 'our' times!
