4 kings

Ever wondered who the 4 Kings are on a deck of cards???

Are they in any reference to kings from the past and even the Queens, Jacks and so on?

In South Africa, one of the guests at the wedding was UK celeb,
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen ( Welsh interior designer, television and radio personality best known for Changing Rooms) and we had the same conversation and he actually brought up
the 4 kings and the designs on the cards, which I hadn't really thought about before,
so i did a little browsing and its actually quite interesting.

King of Spades: David, King of Israel
King of Clubs: Alexander the Great
King of Hearts: French King Charlemagne
King of Diamonds: Roman Julius Caesar Augustus

There is so much more to read up on, but it might be too heavy and boring for some...
